According to the American Marketing Association (AMA), a companies brand is the name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of, which allows consumers to identify the goods and services of one seller, or group of sellers, and to differentiate them from other sellers.

Branding, not to be confused with advertising, marketing or PR, is the “personality” of your company as a whole. Creating your brand is creating your image and is what allows consumers to recognize and remember you. Your brand tells your consumers who you are and what you stand for. Before anything else, you need to create your brand, and then you can move on to promoting your brand.

Consistency is important when it comes to branding your company. Everything your company puts out, should maintain a consistent look and feel, promoting what your company stands for. This will convey a message of credibility and professionalism to your consumers.
